| right my dx8 lipo came today from hk and plugging the lipo in its reading from the tx 7.6v but the lipo is rated at 7.4. and the little batt graph is saying half full. but if it was nimh that kind of voltage would make the graph say fully charged. i have selected lipo in the menu and the alarm is preset at 6.4v will the .2 make a difference to the tx or is the tx reading out by +- .2 the other thing is there is no balance lead on it. can i still charge it by my regular lipo charger. and if so the lipo is 7.4 2cell 4000. so does the 1 c charge rate still apply or should it be less. |

| 2 cell li-po is 8.4V fully charged, 6V fully discharged (nominal volts is 7.4V)
I wouldn't put too much credibility to the Voltage display on the Tx it may not be accurately calibrated.
Li-po's normally are shipped 50% charged so your Tx readings are close.
1C charge rate is fine on all the Li-Po's I have ever used. The lack of a balance connector however is a greater concern I would fit one. |

it does say that it has inbuilt balancer as the spektrum one but i don't no what charge rate to charge it at. |

| Capacity: 4000mAh 1C charge is Two cell at 4A but......
"The Turnigy DX8 Intelligent Transmitter Pack also features a built in voltage protection circuit, this circuit will automatically cutoff once the pack drops to 2.85v per cell ensuring the battery will not be damaged if you accidentally leave your transmitter switched on. The voltage protection circuit will also restrict charging to 4.2v per cell ensuring the pack can never be over charged."
Without knowing the Specs. on the inbuilt protection cct its impossible to give Safe charge advice.
Personally I'd limit charge to 1amp, to ensure you don't damage the Protection cct. in the pack (hopefully)
I'd have rather seen,No protection cct and a Balance connector on this Tx pack Your Charger would then have control of the Cell voltages

| thanks Paul i may use the power adaptor that came with the tx and charge it the slow way then the tx can charge it. keep the old one as a back up and charge it with my lipo charger. only takes a hour but with the tx more like over night. |

Not fully sure what you mean Jeff.
You can't use the Tx slow charger to charge the Li-Po pack it's designed to charge Nimh cells.
It MAY work but your guessing the inbuilt Li-Po protection cct can cope even if it can, charge time will be around 36hrs (the Li-Po is twice the capacity of the original Nimh pack).
Typical HK product, lack of info. compromises safety
I'll offer to fit a balance connector for you then you can charge at 1C from your normal Lipo charger , 2 cell at 4A (approx 1Hr 20min balance charge) but I will have to strip the Tx pack and remove the protection cct.
Not having seen this pack before,No warranty and at your risk but I'll do my best.

| A quick search brought more info. Jeff
Spektrum DX8 - Installing the Lipo Battery http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezzV82f5HyI
DX8 Lipo Charging http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t622650p1/
So you should be ok but don't expect Fast Charging from the Spektrum system

| well had this tx lipo for around 5 months and its working extremely well. iv charged it up 3 times in all this time and even then the lipo never reached the point of the lipo alarm going off. more of a top up than a full charge. i think this is really good with all the scratch building i do so its on a lot, in setting and tweaking my builds. |
