This is intended to replace my current polaris that has come to the end of its flying days, the old polaris was built at 75% of the original size giving me a 22 inch wingspan plane, This one is going to be different.
Started out with the original plans then upscaled them adding the extra 20% this will bring the specs as follows.
AUW should come in around 25 ozs Length from elevator to nose tip 47 Inches Wingspan 35 Inches Motor is 1800kv propped with 7x6 apc prop calculations show 350watts WOT Lipo 3cell 2200mah 30c Full build details can be found here on rcgroups http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=922465 The old polaris was a blast to fly and seeing how the weather is changing for the worst its time to rebuild and be ready for the snow and the dark nights that are now upon us. The plans I used have been altered a little to keep the scale and cutout changes to a minimum, they are available if anyone wants to have a go at this plane.

I did mention earlier the dark nights are now upon us well here's my solution to that one.
More to follow guys. Keep watching as I'm no where near done on this one.

That looks cool I imagine there will be a lot of reported ufo sightings if you fly it at night. It looks like the plane from the thunderbirds I think you should try it with an EDF instead of a prop

It will be flown at night sam, The pics dont do it justice theres alot of light cast around when the lights are switched on (via the tx) Its not the first nightflyer I've done but its certainly the brightest.

What are you using to light it? LED strips on the inside of the depron? My night flyer just has the LED strips stuck on around the outside, with green on the underside to light up the grass better

Thats what I'm using sam, If you bury the lights into the foam you get a really cool glow instead of a harsh light. I've added the LED to the nose cone and fitted it for a test, I've just completed a little video that I will be uploading later as the nose has a multicolour unit that can only be seen here via video.

Looks good pete NOW WHERE IS YOUR BUILD THREAD? C'mon m8 we want details of auw power servos look at my post here for the layout.
I have the plans for the 120% polaris but I beleive jeff is doing the 100% version its up to you what size you want?
Go for the 120% m8 its impressive if you have the room to store one? close to 4 feet long .

Polaris update moves onto a little shaping of the front end and a few tweaks on the wing shape to give a sleek look and improving airflow across the fuse, theres still lots of sanding to do then I'll start the control installation.
The old and the new.

jeff cant reply at the moment keith he.s in hospital,i rang him yesterday morning to see if he was going flying & he said he felt sick, then i got a text at about 8pm from him saying he was in hospital,he said he fainted & fell banging his head so they kept him in overnight.
