Its a nice plane jeff and a fairly good size to see when its buzzing round the field, should take a good size lipo too for longer flight times if you get the right power setup for it.
Have you decided on the motor/prop setup then?

1020kv motor will give you huge options with the prop jeff your better off picking the prop size to have good ground clearance for landing and takeoffs.

Makes me want my lil spifire back in the air ............now where did i put that bind plug lol

Hold off on the gear refit Jeff you'll be supposed how sturdy they can really be.
A quick testflight will show any minor flaws, my advice is fly it as is for now unless it's already
Documented to change it straight out ¿

you were right Keith about the retract legs,in the picture they looked to skinny.
but they are actually not bad at all.
so its all finished and the retracts work really fast, they snap shut with the speed of a mouse trap, till you use the servo slow feature on the dx8 and now they are nice and slow.
next is its maiden.

That's going to look great in the air Jeff, moreso if your flying alongside one of phone scale setups.
Yours would look a little further away that's all.

well poped out this morning to re-maiden the seafury as Sam had give it its first one and reported it was very tail heavy.
so i added 50g of nose weight and went for it.
grass was long and it nosed over few times till i found bit of flattened area, and it left the ground and headed for the sky.
what a wonderful flight it was. felt at home with it within minuets.
needed no trim at all, speed is fine loops and rolls were very good.
after 7mins i dropped the landing gear and started my decent.
now this is were things did not go so well. pale landing speed was fast and by the time it was a foot off the deck it was still going at speed. to close by this time to power up and go around again.
soon as the wheels touched the grass it skidded along on its nose and stopped with it falling on to its back.phew don't want to land like that again lol
so bent one leg and prop blade snapped off.
but other than that extremely happy. Smile

Sounds like you had luck on your side Jeff, same thing happened to me with the aero BB plane of mine
I know that feeling very well m8. Sounds like a good flyer when it up there though.

well had another go with the seafury with 50g in the nose and flys like a dream.no bad habits and my landing was a lot slower than on its maiden.
still need to bleed bit more speed for that perfect landing, but that will come with more flights. Smile

well i popped over to kirky field yesterday.
seems odd when your on your own.
so had a go at filming my flight with hat cam.
was no wind at home but at the field it was constant, but the seafury handled it fine.
landing was on the strip and best yet for the seafury and still broke a prop. Rolling Eyes
iv never broke so many on one plane before, its about every 3rd flight .
have been told to boil them in a pan of hot water. any one heard of this.
best watched in HD

I watched the vid Jeff and it looks very stable in the air, I've heard the boil thing before but also heard it warps the props so I guess it's up to you to try it out.
If you do video it as that's gonna be hilarious when your lads walks in and sees what your cooking for tea lol
