PostSubject: ME 109 build now ready to maiden   Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:33 am

I was given this airframe off a m8 of mine (cheers Ron) for my son to fly, Its ready to go and i was hoping to maiden today but due to the weather its still sat in the shop.
I know a few of the guys here fly scale (Phil) and i have read a few horror stories on handling these birds in the air, question i have is
Are these that difficult to fly as its for my son I don't want the maiden to be the final flight?

she's a bit beat up but the body's straight and everything lines up as it should
Cheers for the replies

Its reduced alright Phil I was caught on that one 2 years ago, It still haunts me to this day.
Weird part is Ian has totaled around 7 planes I've done one in 3 years
guess which one gets mentioned the most?

Don,t worry I,ve lost count too(mostly mechanical failure though)honest this one guts me the most took a couple of week to build one flight to destroy,it was flying great until i took it straight up vertical then nothing no control straight ddown like a dart looking at the remains i think the mini xtail cyrstal came out, i learnt to put tape over them nevermind Sad [img][/img]

Tell me about it Phil, I have loads of designs of my own I want to try or modify someone elses and see what i can get it to do. I love the building and mechanical/aerodynamics side of the hobby as much as I enjoy the flying.
Paul took the speedy up yesterday for a run out, all i can say is it was a pleasure to watch as i think I've nailed the thrust angle, it flew straight and true and for such a tiny plane it glides forever.
There's still loads of planes in the hanger I've not taken to the site yet I'll have to dust them off and give them some airtime.

I know its not the same but do you have a sim? preferably phoenix? as the online flying can be a blast if you know the other guys your flying with.
Daz and I have been online recently and i still could not knock him out of the sky... Very Happy
But then he can't fly helis yet either lol
Keeps the muscle memory alive either way
