| Okay its not actually a new plane but It will deliver a few. This is the latest addition to the workshop and yes its homemade as Santa did not quite understand my letter I should get a fair bit of use from this one and it will make my life so much easier, the big bonus is it will also reduce costs on my scratchbuilds and further reduce my build time yet increase the quality of my builds......Its now open season on B&Q insulation section I fitted a dimmer switch to the pc power supply so I can control the temperature of the cutting wire New wings anyone The table will allow me to cut cores up to 40 inches giving over all wingspan of 80 inches. Folds away for storage Comes down in a few seconds and ready to go Tested a few times and the results were amazing....now to cut some templates. Oh yeah Its my new Hotwire foam Cutter great for new wings at the drop of a hat. Always wanted one and now I have. Keith A bow addition will be next on the list. | |

Most PC power supplies are stabilized between 120 - 240V AC
Post a cct diagram , I'm intrigued

| Yup I know bud but this one has been ripped apart and modified, the dimmer is on the primary windings of the transformer to allow control of the input not the out hence giving me the control I need. You get it now Paul? This is what i worked off its not my design btw Image crapped out on me I'll fix it and repost

| I'll need to see the wiring PC PSU's use Pulse Width Modulation If that's what you have modified then I can see it working fine. Most Hot Wire Cutters use a variable resistor to control the current from a DC supply hence manually regulating the current flow and wire temp. I have often wondered if a Constant Current source may be a better way to control the wire temp..... although I have zero experience cutting wing cores | |

Its basically an old transformer rated 24v at 5 amp, the circuitry was removed, as you said its PWM and you could not control the temperature this way as the dimmer would only act as an on/off switch not giving the current control required. I'll take it apart when I'm done testing foam variations and take a picture. Its basic in there Paul just like the old car chargers you used to get years ago Remember them? Pete the builds wont necessarily go bigger but the airfoil possibilities are now endless as the kfm builds I have done worked well in the past, Darren Ian and I are going to build a full on FPV platform and I hope that members here will contribute to the design as at the moment we have no plans to work with. The build is on, we are looking at a twin boom design with a pusher prop but If members have better ideas or something they have seen that would work well then we can follow that route. I need input from you guys here to make this work???????

| WHEN CAN I HAVE A PLAY lol
Good job m8 looks just the job. May I suggest we don't use dragon link for the piloting of the FPV, I've noticed Ian has had a few issues with control lately.

| Sounds a good project Lots of wing area plenty of washout for tame handling and the prop. out of the cam. view I could maybe add a Wii stabilizer system too Anyone got a large Tent ? how about projecting the live video feed inside the tent and flying from there. It would give a more communal experience Damn. now you've done it ,my brain hurts | |

| Keep the ideas coming guys and we'll eventually settle on a design. Paul I do like the wii idea buddy, good call. Dragon link is out daz to many problems and besides it costs a fortune... Communal plane hehe I like the sound of that There's a name in here somewhere lol... not even got the plane yet and already thinking of a name. Pete i think the prop is the better option for longer flight times ubless you know something i don't | |

| Im still trying to find out whats up with the dragonlink, might be a possibility, but might be easier for the tme being flying with a 35mhz rx with a 4 meter or 8 meter antenna. For the ranges we are looking at a 4 would do fine.
Im thinking 2.4 gh video so we can save a fortune on ground station builds and just use mine.

| What about a buddy system and 2 sets of eyewear for people who are thinking of getting into the hobby, maybe let them have a quick blast on the sticks, and of course for us novices lol
Would it be a good idea to move all the posts regarding this item to its own thread, just a thought.

| My ground station will take multiple goggles, But im not buying anymore Im modding my car soon. Yes not the way i use to when i were a nipper What im doing is installing some 12" and 19" screens and a couple of other smaller screens so people can sit in it and watch the live stream. Also a few other mods so i can house my laptop in it, live link to google earth etc, basically a boot install. That way we can have 4 people + being able to watch at the same time You could have a buddy box system and have other pilots use the larger ( more eye friendly ) screen without shelling out more for goggles | |

| Well 12" screen for inside front cab is already here, ive just won a 14" monitor screen off fleabay a few minutes ago, this will be for split screening so my laptop can show live tracking and the 14" can show in flight footage. Ive got two sun visor tvs to fit in the front so that should do it for displays. Make a nice trimmed build with a extra battery, lipo chargers, laptop port, video splitter, inverter and screen built in we are talking the uk heaviest ground station lol Overkill yes ? Fun to make ? Ohhh yes | |

Yes anyone one 2.4ghz video could connect, live earth tracking would be subject to osd capabilities though
