Its been awhile since I posted in this section so a little post on what I've been working on, Its all but ready to go I'm currently looking around at different props for this little build as I will need 2 standard props and 2 counter rotating. Its driven by the wii motion plus for the gyro setup and currently runs 4x1400kv motors so it should be great for acrobatics....Fancy a go Paul?
It didn't take long to track down the props i need so if your looking for counter rotating props look here

Its configured for the XQuad at the moment paul, I can switch to the PQuad if I dont like how the X handles. Theres a new release for phoenix flight sim and low and behold its a quad lol, guess who is going to be on phoenix for a few days
I have the autolevel feature for it but I've not put it in the quad yet as I want to see what it will do first.

I have doubts about the lights I had similar on the UFO
been flying the Quad on Phoenix I quite like the ping pong ball on the front it seemed quite effective for orientation

The update on the quad is a good one IT FLYS and does it with ease, It certainly keeps you on your toes and has way more power than my Tricopter. The wife took a quick video which I'm uploading now its nothing flash just a quick run up and down the garden.
Very pleased with how its turned out and I know Its going to be fun flying/learning the does and dont's of a quad.
Paul FYI its extremely fast on the sticks

Mines only a straight forward one jeff I have the adxl345 accelerometer chip to go on the quad and that will give me an autolevel feature at the flick of a switch, I have it on the tricopter and it really does make it easier to fly as when you go hands of it self rights I have seen the new boards at hk and they are based on the kk board, I dont know much about the kk other than paul had one and decided on the wii build instead, I guess he'll post here and he can give you more insight than I on the kk board.
The good thing about these builds jeff is you can fly them in the smallest garden.

The KK board was fine and worked well probably your easiest way, without getting bogged down in the electronics and programming side of things.

thats wot looked a bit worrying.on the programing side on the pc.lots of gimbol settings and items iv never herd of. from wot iv seen kk boards have trimming pots for trimming all the axis. need to have a good read on earlier post to have more of a idea wots involved and hit you lot with wot i don't no.

After a few little flights on the quad i really was not happy with the looks as landing gear just did not look right on a quad imo. This is what I have come up with after a quick visit to the field earlier today.
The lipo is much more secure and protected, Now its time to really throw this one about as if it lands hard it wont take much to refit and go.

To be fair jeff I had the base plate already made it just needed fitting to the quad, I'm much happier with how it looks now.Shame its still raining or I would be outside buzzing the neighbours gardens lol

Just adding a few pictures here as I've had a couple of messages asking how i mounted the motors and what could be used to house the electronics, The tri picture is just my other tri with smaller arms as I'm so pleased with how the quad handles, Besides I can fly it across the garden easier when its finished as I'll have more room to fly around
Bottom view of motor mount
Top view showing smaller holes on the outside to take the screws for the motor base. Yes you can use just the two.
The new tri Note the housing roy its usually to store onions lol
Size matters
Looking through you see how much easier it is to get your screwdriver in there to fit your motors
This fitting makes for a much neater build and the ability to run your wires through the frame
I hope this is of use to those that enquired, If you need more info or pics let me know and I'll see what i can do.

Upgraded this to 1.8 software a few days ago inline with the new release, its a totally different machine, the stability is far better than the previous version and the stick inputs are much smoother............Paul your gonna love 1.8

Cheers Keith
I have it sorted, I realigned the sensor then had problems loading 1.8 ....
Flew it this pm on 1.7 it flew well
I now have 1.8 loaded (via Netbook) Only flown it indoors but it seems fine.
p.s. what's auto level ?

Yeah Yeah Yeah! autolevel is for us less accomplished pilots, On the upside it makes taking photo's easier I have the baro to fit but atm its only workable in a meter span. Its workable but alex and the others are still working on the baro setup.
I'm looking forward to the gps system thats currently in baby stage when its running right it will transform the wii system and yet its still a cheap option.

If the Wii gets GPS and the software continues to develop at the rate it has been
I'd expect problems from the CAA and Gov. Dept's soon as we are now into UAV territory and a pilot won't be required
p.s. Just been confirmed a bug in the soft for changes to gyro orientation in 1.8
